Eliot Smith

Eliot Smith is a British choreographer and the founder of Eliot Smith Dance (ESD), an award-winning contemporary dance company based in Newcastle upon Tyne. A graduate of the London Contemporary Dance School and the Martha Graham School in New York, his work blends modern dance techniques with socially engaged storytelling. Smith has created 18 original works and growing for ESD, which has performed across the UK and internationally. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and an Honorary Friend of the British Federation of Festivals. Passionate about inclusivity as a member of the LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent communities, Eliot is committed to Surface Area Dance Theatre’s mission and proud to contribute to its inclusive and innovative work.
